Sports Injuries

What is Podiatric Sports Medicine?

Every day, athlete’s feet carry the weight of a muscular body and absorb the impact of jumping, running, kicking, and pounding. Athletes’ ankles must be able to move with the rest of the body during quick turns, dips, and sprints. So it’s not surprising that 25% of sports injuries are foot and ankle-related, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Many sports-related foot and ankle injuries require time off from sports to heal properly. But if left untreated, those injuries can have a devastating effect on an athlete’s career.

That’s where our podiatric sports medicine specialty comes in. We know the feet and ankles are incredibly complex structures — made of small bones and delicate tendons, yet able to support the weight and movement of an entire body. We treat them with the attention and care they deserve so we can get you back on your feet and in the game as quickly as possible.
